Goods of Record

Michael Kushner (sitting on railing), Trey Sisson (crouched below) and Sathish Naadimuthu share a love for one-of-a kind, handcrafted products designed by passionate artisans. Last summer, Sisson and Naadimuthu, who will graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton MBA program this year, teamed up with Kushner, an advertising art director (and Sisson's childhood friend), to bring these unique goods to other craft connoisseurs. Goods of Record is an upscale men's ecommerce site that capitalizes on the current demand for artisanal, maker-made merchandise produced in America. But it goes a step further. The trio not only travels the country searching for distinctive items — everything from bottle openers hand forged from salvaged railroad spikes and yellow-butterfly-adorned pocket square handkerchiefs — but they also populate the site with written stories and videos featuring the makers themselves for customers who want a deeper connection to the things they buy and use.
