An Olympic snowboarder from Vermont, Hannah Teter won the gold in halfpipe in Turin in 2006. While most people her age (she'll be 27 in January) are thinking of how they are going to support themselves, Teter is supporting an entire village. Through the sales of her Vermont maple syrup, Hannah’s Gold, she has supported a huge clean water project and bought plots of land for homes for homeless AIDS patients in the village of Kirindon, Kenya. She has also donated all of her contest winnings to the cause.
