In what can only be described as the coolest internship on the planet, Brazilian economics major Lucas Cabral Maciel hit the ground running earlier this month on his quest to visit nine major cities in 99 days to report on the world's latest trends and happenings.

Maciel, in his fourth and final year at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, won the internship by beating out 4,000 other applicants for the position with advertising agency DDB Brazil, part of the DDB Worldwide unit of the Omnicom Group.

Maciel began his journey on Jan. 9 of this year. His first stop? New York. In the next 99 days, he'll also visit London, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Bangkok, Mumbai, Shanghai and Tokyo.
