From the laboratory to the hot seat on Fox News, Bill Nye the Science Guy has always managed to educate, inform, and present the wonders of our world in an entertaining and enlightening way. This Fall on ABC, we'll see if he can also school the competition on the hit reality series "Dancing with the Stars."

The 57-year-old, best known for his long-running series "Bill Nye the Science Guy," will kick up an enormous amount of kinetic energy with partner Tyne Stecklein. Following the announcement by ABC, Nye posted a series of hilarious tweets:

Nye's celebrity competition includes "Jersey Shore's" Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, "King of Queen's" actress Leah Remini, "Saved by the Bell" star Elizabeth Berkley, former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, "Glee" actress Amber Riley, Jack Osbourne, actress Christina Milian, "High School Muscial" star Corbin Bleu, "Pretty Little Liars" star Brant Daugherty, actor/comedian Bill Engvall, and actress Valerie Harper.

Harper, currently battling terminal brain cancer, recently told PEOPLE that she decided to join the show because "...when life asks you to dance, you just have to dance."

"I feel much better," Harper, 74, said of her condition. "And my brain scans are looking better too. The doctors tell me there's less evidence of cancer, which is very unusual. However, they both say it's not a case of if, but when. And I can live with that."

The 17th season of "Dancing with the Stars" kicks off Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
