As it does every year, the Emmy Awards took time last night to recognize and celebrate the lives of those lost over the last year. At the end of last night's "In Memoriam" piece, Billy Crystal appeared on stage to pay tribute to one person in particular: the late Robin Williams.
"He made us laugh hard, every time you saw him," Crystal said, recalling time spent performing with the comedian. "His brilliance was astounding... I used to think if I could just put a saddle on him and stay on for eight seconds I would be OK."
Crystal, 66, added that Williams was just as good a friend as he was a performer; taking part in so many personal occasions with the Crystal family. "It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives for almost 40 years. He was the brightest star in the comedy galaxy," he said.
"Robin Williams, what a concept," he added.
