With prom season quickly approaching, high school senior Jake Davidson decided that there was only one person he really wanted to go with: supermodel Kate Upton.

Davidson posted a humorous video to YouTube, asking the 20-year-old Sports Illustrated cover model if she might be interested — and surprise! She actually said maybe.

"I'm gonna be real with you here; I don't have a girlfriend, and with prom season coming around, that could be problematic for some," he explains. "But I'm me, I'm Optimus Prime, and I see the glass half full."

Davidson continues: "We have our commonalities," he says. "You like sports, I like sports. You like fine dining, I like fine dining. You're on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I read Sports Illustrated."

The video proposal, which has been viewed more than 130,000 times on YouTube, eventually reached Upton, who responded over Twitter with good news for Davidson.

"You can call me Katie if you want!" she tweeted. "How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule ;)"

While appearing on the "Today" show this morning (because that's how big this whole thing has gotten), Davidson received another surprise when Upton joined the interview via phone. After again stating his case (adding that he might even be able to get his curfew extended), Kate said: “I definitely have to check schedules, but you seem like so much fun and if everything works out, I’d love to go with you. I know we’d have a blast.’’

"I can't believe it,'' Davidson replied.
