Foggy Sunrise at Merced National Wildlife Refuge

As you likely already know, we love gorgeous photographs around here. Whether it's spectacular landscapes, unique or charming wildlife, pets and people enjoying the great outdoors, creative eco-friendly architecture or travel, or even mouth-watering meals, we agree with the adage that a photograph speaks a thousand words. One of the things we've noticed is that our readers create some of the most beautiful photographs, and it's a highlight of our day when you share them with us. So we've decided to launch Photo of the Day, dedicated to you, our shutter-bug readers!

Taking part is simple. Join our Flickr group and add your photos to the pool. On that page you'll also find our rules for how your photos will be used, as well as call-outs for photos on a certain topics. Every day, we select one favorite image to be featured.

Getting us started on this adventure with a little inspiration is Donald Quintana, whose says of this stunning photo, "Some mornings are as foggy as foggy can get. While you might think trying to photograph in this type of weather is futile, sometimes it works out."

We couldn't be more excited to see what you submit, and to show off your photos to the world!
