Howard Stern on Monday became the latest celebrity to speak out against executives at BP and their handling of the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.
"They should all be in jail," said Stern. "They're crooks."
"What the hell do we do?" Stern said desperately to his "Howard Stern Show" co-host Robin Quivers. "And don't you think these guys who are in charge of pulling oil out of the ground are — at very least, should be prosecuted for crimes against humanity?"
Robin countered by wondering what crimes BP might be charged with if the company broke no laws to begin with. "I mean you're sort of saying 'pull it out of the air'," she added.
"Yes," replied Stern. "... go to jail! Go think about what you did! Because these guys in the oil business know that they're breaking the rules. They know that this s*** can happen. They know. It's just like I know radio, they know the oil business. They know the risks and they're like: 'You know what? If we have an oil spill .... we'll throw some money at it. We'll get everyone to shut up. It's a cover-up."
Stern ended his rant by showing visible disgust with society in general. "We're just such pigs," he said. "People are just pigs."
Coming from Stern, that says a lot about how he views the BP disaster. What do you think? Does he have a point? Should BP execs face time for the oil spill?
