To say Ian Somerhalder is excited for the latest animal-saving initiative from his personal foundation is an understatement. Check out his Instagram announcement below to see what I mean.

Somerhalder's new "ISF Emergency Medical Care Grant for Animals" was designed to provide "financial assistance to animal welfare organizations, agencies, and in some cases individual rescuers, responsible for the care of animals recovering from abuse, neglect or injuries suffered from a traumatic event." A maximum of $2,500 will be awarded to applicants - with animals in dire assistance receiving priority consideration. Unlike the long waiting period of other grant operations, Somerhalder says some applicants can expect a decision in a soon as a week after submittal.

"We cannot wait to share the stories of hope and success with you and want to thank you for supporting our creatures and enabling us to be able to help in ways such as this new program," he said.
