When John Mayer revealed in March that his throat granuloma had returned, you could feel the disappointment in his words. 


"This is bad news," he wrote on Tumblr. "Because of this, I have no choice but to take an indefinite break from live performing. Though there will be a day when all of this will be behind me, it will sideline me for a longer period of time than I care to have you count down."


So yeah, big bummer for the music world; but for comedy, it's another story. 

Last week, CollegeHumor.com released a video featuring Mayer sending his own hologram to tour in his place. Unfortunately, unlike the convincing hologram of the late Tupac Shakur that appeared at Coachella, Mayer's version doesn't quite measure up.
Enjoy the video below. At the very least, it's good to see Mayer making light of his unfortunate situation.
