I will never, ever again mock the power of Justin Bieber's hair.

The pop star, who celebrated his 17th birthday Tuesday, recently shocked fans by chopping off his iconic locks for a much shorter look. "Yeah [people were freaking out], but I was like, 'I don't really care.'," he said.

Stopping by The Ellen DeGeneres show last week, Bieber decided that some good could be done with the extra hair -- and so, presented the 59-year-old star with some of her own. "Yes, it's really my hair, but there's a perk," he said. "I wanted to do something good. I'm giving pieces of it to different people," he explained. "The thing is, we're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want."

DeGeneres ultimately setup an eBay auction to benefit The Gentle Barn, a charity located in California that saves farm animals from horrible abuse, neglect, and loneliness.

And guess what? As of today, they're now $40,668 richer.

That's the winning amount that concluded some incredible bidding in the last 12 hours of the auction -- more than $17K in all. Besides the locks in a signed box, the winner will also receive an opportunity to meet the star (which may have sweetened the deal for bidders across the board).

Next up? Perez Hilton has also received some of Bieber's hair and ia making plans for another charity auction. Considering his most recent honor from PETA, will this too benefit an animal organization? Stay tuned Bieber fans.
