10 days past its expected delivery date, the royal baby has finally decided that the time has arrived to make a grand entrance.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was admitted to St Mary's hospital in London in the early stages of labor shortly before 6 a.m. local time (1 a.m. EST). A palace official told NBC News that "things are progressing as normal."

According to the BBC, Middleton and her husband Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, traveled by car to the hospital and without a police escort. She will give birth in the Lindo wing, the same place where Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were born.

So now, we wait. In the meantime, should the royal baby decide to arrive today, it will share the date with a variety of celebs and entertainers. Actress Selena Gomez (21 years), "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek (73 years), actor David Spade (49 years), and the original General Zod, actor Terence Stamp (75 years).

Other celebrity birthdays today include Orson Bean, Louise Fletcher, Chuck Jackson, George Clinton, Danny Glover, Don Henley, Albert Brooks, Alan Menken, Willem Dafoe, John Leguizamo, Rhys Ifans, Rufus Wainwright, Franka Potente, and Paul Schrader.
