It's no secret that the Internet has a compulsive obsession with cats, so it should come as no surprise to learn that one of the most popular accounts on Snapchat is almost entirely devoted to the fantastical exploits of two lazy cats named Oskar and Maya.

The human behind these clever "SnapCats" is Audrey Spencer, a Boston-based industrial designer who uses a stylus and her iPhone to go the extra mile with Snapchat's simple drawing feature. Of course, it all starts with a great photo, and while Spencer's cats are naturally photogenic (duh!), it takes a bit of time and patience to get just the right photo.

In a recent interview with Upvoted about her work, she explains her process for photographing Oskar and Maya: "I spend a lot of time playing with the cats to get a good picture. Once I have something, then I have to decide what to draw. Sometimes it just comes to me. Other times, I have to position myself the way the cat is in the picture and think of what I might be doing in that position."

As a testament to her clever work, Spencer was nominated for the "Snapchatter of the Year" category in the 8th annual Shorty Awards! (Voting is now closed, but be sure to tune in for awards ceremony on April 11.)
