Green gal Sophia Bush is putting her feet (and lungs) to the test to help raise some much needed cash for people affected by the oil spill in the Gulf.

The "One Tree Hill" star recently announced her intentions to run a 13.1-mile half marathon this November saying, "Yup. Me. The asthmatic with a years-old knee injury, who hasn’t run a mile since junior high. No seriously — since junior high, as in since I was 13 years old. For the record I am now 28!"

Bush is using Edward Norton's new Crowdrise social charity site to raise the funds for her campaign — with the running idea an obvious nod to the actor's success last year with the NYC marathon.

"We are all reaching out to our friends and our loved ones to sponsor us, and hopefully we will be able to raise some more funds for the people of the Gulf Coast," she added. "They need all the help they can get. So I am running. For the Gulf. For all of you."

So far, Sophia has raised a little more than $400 of the $150,000 end goal. Needless to say, she's got a long road to walk (or run) before reaching that financial finish line — but in the world of celebrity, anything is possible between now and November.
