If you've had your eye on HGTV's 2011 Green Home, now is your chance to beat the odds and potentially pack your bags for Denver, Colorado.
The contest, now in its fourth year, features a 2,400-square-foot, custom-built home located in the eco-friendly community of Stapleton. The area is considered one of the country's most ambitious examples of sustainable development and is reusing/recycling 4,700 acres of land (including the site of the old city airport) and reconnecting it to Denver's urban fabric.
This year's home, which recently achieved Platinum LEED-certificaton, features three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and an open floor plan. Dog lovers will be thrilled to know that there's even the useful addition of a "dog wash" in the garage. Of course, everything is built with eco-friendly materials and with a serious eye towards energy efficiency.
"This year's combination of an eco-healthy home design and the vibrant, family-friendly Stapleton community will undoubtedly make this our most popular HGTV Green Home ever," said Jim Samples, president, HGTV.
Besides scoring the home (and all the lovely taxes that come with it), you'll also receive $100,000 (handy for the taxes) as well as a 2011 GMC Terrain (sell it, buy a Prius). HGTV is offering people the chance to enter twice daily - once through their main site and another through FrontDoor.com; a subsidiary that offers real estate listings.
Want to win? You've got until June 2nd, so hit the contest here. Check out a video tour of the home below and let me know what you think. Note: If the home and car ain't your thing, HGTV is also offering the value of the two ($618,775.00) as a cash option. Either way, you're a winner.
