Getting dirty

Remember when you were little and the idea of playing in the mud was the coolest thing imaginable? Mud-rolling sessions aren't as socially acceptable in the adult world, but that doesn't mean these kinds of activities are off-limits — it just means that you need a better excuse to get messy.

Well, how about this? "I was experiencing a traditional cultural event that happened to involve tossing food at other people or rolling around in the mud." It's true — there are festivals that give participants a chance to throw vegetables, flour and even eggs at one another. Other messy traditional events will leave you hopelessly — but happily — muddy (like the Boryeong Mud Festival pictured) or grass-stained.
