House Without a Key, Waikiki
Honolulu’s luxurious Halekulani Hotel has a courtyard bar that overlooks the ocean. Dubbed the House Without a Key, this bar has some of the most picturesque views in the iconic Waikiki area. This is not a DJ-and-swimsuit-dance-party type of venue. You can expect to sit quietly in your comfortable chair and watch traditional Hawaiian music and dance performances.
The name House Without a Key was first made famous in a 1920s novel of the same name by Earl Derr Biggers featuring fictional Hawaiian detective Charlie Chan. The bar has a full menu of cocktails, but its signature drink is a classic mai tai.
