Dark Hedges, Northern Ireland

This backcountry avenue (featured in the second season as the King's Road) is quite stunning, with 200-year-old beech trees creating a canopy over the roadway. Located in Northern Ireland's Antrim Country, where most of the scenes set in the fictional "North" was filmed, the Dark Hedges are not far from the popular tourist town of Ballymoney.

Though the modern-day pavement was removed with digital editing, the arching trees were altered little during post production. They really do spread over the roadway, creating a living tunnel that seems to stretch to the horizon.
