Selexyz Dominicanen Bookstore

The Selexyz bookstore is located in a church in the town of Maastricht in the Netherlands. Oddly enough, Selexyz is a chain bookstore. The company decided to move into the church space after it was renovated in 2005.

The building, originally constructed by the Dominican order in late 13th century, has not been a functioning church for a long time. The last time it hosted a religious ceremony was in 1792. The architects who renovated the church installed a kind of walk-in, multi-floor bookcase. In a way, the old elements are still separate from the new ones. The best part about this bookstore is that people can browse the shelves only a few feet below the intricate vaulted ceilings.
