Exalted edible: Fries (just don’t call them French)

Location: Bruges, Belgium

Don’t go home without a … belly full of Belgian potatoes fries

We think Colin Farrell would have enjoyed his stay in the stunningly preserved medieval city of Bruges just a bit more if he had stopped by the Frietmuseum, an institution honoring Belgium’s most cherished culinary contribution (aside from waffles): fried potatoes. Located in a jaw-dropping 14th-century building called the Saaihalle, the proprietors of the Frietmuseum (who also happen to run Choco-Story, Bruges’ chocolate museum) believe it to be “not only normal, but even absolutely necessary that the first potato fry museum should be opened in Belgium.” Having eaten Belgian frites in Bruges ourselves, we wholeheartedly agree.
