Shine-Yokohama Raumen Museum

Exalted edible: Noodle soups

Location: Yokohama, Japan

Don’t go home without a … package of instant ramen

Although there are educational displays aplenty at this Japanese foodie theme park, the main draw of the Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum is a Vegas-esque, noodle soup-centric food court fantasyland styled after a gritty, late-1950s Tokyo cityscape (a similar set-up can be found at Tokyo’s potsticker-celebrating Gyoza Stadium). Here, ravenous soup slurpers can sample regional variations of the museum’s signature dish from a host of top Japanese noodle houses. So whatever you do, don’t show up with a full stomach. If your travel plans don’t include Japan in the near future, cook up a packet of Nissin instant noodles (hello college cuisine!) and check out Just Hungry’s review of the museum.
