Bhutan has already made its way onto many “best of” lists because of its nature and, more importantly, its well-preserved culture. Traditional practices are still at the forefront in this tiny Himalayan nation, which is tucked in the mountains between Indian and China. Though the country does have its share of harsh mountain landscapes that are difficult to access, its people are undeniably welcoming, and places like Jigme Dorji National Park are teeming with unique creatures like snow leopards, black bears and musk oxen. Guided treks through the country are possible, as are trips to remote villages, cliff-top monasteries, and untouched national forests.
