I’m not vegan, but World Vegan Day happens to fall on my birthday! And being lactose-intolerant, I’m a big fan of vegan foods — like soy ice cream and tempeh burgers. Some suggestions on how to celebrate the dairy-free day:

>> Enter So Nice soymilk’s “A Better Organic World” contest. Share how you’d spend $5,000 towards a better organic world — for a chance to win $5,000 to do just that!

>> Take part in The EtsyVeg Spooktacular! Halloween may be over, but the vegan members of handcrafter’s website are offering “creepy savings and a frightfully fantastic shopper giveaway.” Shop the sales for an eco-friendly handmade birthday present for your favorite blogger — or get your holiday shopping done early this year. All shoppers will be entered into a drawing to win vegan, handmade prizes.

>> Attend a World Vegan Day event near you. In my neighborhood, LA’s Annual Vegan Day Celebration started at 6 pm! If you live in the neighborhood, go now — The party continues until 9!

>> Enjoy a vegan dinner. Got a leftover Halloween pumpkin? Here’s MNN’s recipe for vegan pumpkin ravioli. If that recipe sounds daunting, just dine out veg! I’ll be ordering something vegan for my birthday dinner tonight at organic and vegan-friendly Hugo’s Restaurant in West Hollywood.
