Greener every day

Craig and Layla Baird got a little greener every day for a year beginning on Earth Day in 2008 and blogged about it at Our Green Year. This Canadian couple adopted a new green habit or explored an eco-friendly alternative for 365 days, and during that time they gave up bottled water, built a solar oven, switched to fair-trade and non-genetically modified food and even saved snow in barrels to water their garden in the summer.

"We're hearing a lot about climate change in the media these days, and we are the ones who get the bum deal in this. We're the ones who have to deal with it first-hand. We want to make the future a bit easier and be able to say we really tried to keep this from happening," Craig said in an interview with his local paper.

Now that the Bairds are self-made green experts, they’re working to share their journey and their eco-knowledge with others through speaking engagments.
