In preparation for Greenbuild 2010 in Chicago, the U.S. Green Building Council has been gathering videos that commemorate this year’s theme: “Generation Green: Redefining our Future.” Green building can change the future and people from around the country have been submitting their videos to share how they are part of Generation Green and what and why they’re going green.

I’ve been following the blog for several months, but a recent submission by Kate really touched me. Kate is a licensed architect and actively involved in the green building movement. In her video, she very poignantly describes why she’s a part of Generation Green — she’s doing it for her unborn child.

Of course Kate’s isn’t the only submission, and there are several great ones out there but this one really spoke to me as a mother. I’m not an architect, but I do understand the important role that green building will have in combating climate change and generally creating a healthier planet.

If you’re interested in watching some of the other standout submissions, visit the Generation Green video blog.
