Greenbuild 2010 officially kicks off this week in Chicago, but Tuesday, Nov. 16, is green jobs day at Greenbuild. Two events centered on green jobs are scheduled: the Green Job Fair and the Green Jobs Summit.
The Greenbuild 2010 Green Job Fair begins at 8:30 a.m. in Ballroom 375 on the third floor of McCormick Place West. The job fair, which runs until 12:30 p.m., is designed to help connect employers and future employees in the green building industry.
After the Green Job Fair ends, the Green Jobs Summit begins. Registration for the event, which ends at 8:30 p.m., is $99. The Green Jobs Summit is a conference within a conference featuring an opening address, multiple educational sessions and a closing address.
The Green Jobs Summit begins at 12:30 p.m. with an opening session featuring USGBC CEO Rick Fedrizzi, David Foster of the BlueGreen Alliance and others. Following the opening session, the first educational series begins. Topics on the schedule include the home retrofit industry and models for small businesses.
The second education session will include presentations on construction career pathways within the green economy and preparing skilled workers for the green building industry.
After the Green Jobs Summit closing address, attendees are invited to attend the grand opening celebration of the Greenbuild 2010 Exhibit Hall. For more information about the green jobs events, visit the Greenbuild 2010 website.
