CityCenter ARIA and Vdara – Las Vegas, Nevada

I first wrote about CityCenter’s sustainable pursuits last month. CityCenter, scheduled to open in December 2009, is a massive mixed-use development in Las Vegas. In a city where excess is the name of the game, CityCenter is truly an over-the-top project. The facility has multiple hotels and casinos, a conference hall, a retail and entertainment district, and residential properties.

The facility recently received three different LEED Gold certifications. The ARIA Resort hotel, the ARIA Resort convention center, and the Vdara Hotel have all earned LEED certification. CityCenter is also on target to received LEED certification for the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Crystals retail and entertainment district, Veer Towers (the residential wing), and The Harmon boutique hotel.

The facility has an 8.5-megawatt natural gas co-generation plant onsite, a fleet of compressed natural gas limousines, advanced water conservation technology, and a massive recycling program.
