U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown is a leading campaigner for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, yet has seen the global financial crisis eclipse the issue in Britain since he took office two years ago. In June 2009, Brown called for rich nations of the world to donate $100 billion each to help poorer countries deal with the effects of global warming.
