I’m old enough to remember when the big old Motorola DynaTAC, also known as “the brick”, was the hot new mobile phone to have. I only knew a handful of people with a mobile phone in those days. Boy have times changed; mobile phones haven’t just gotten smaller but they’ve gotten smarter. One of the emerging trends in smartphone features is the ability to pay for a purchase by simply waving your phone over, or even near, a payment terminal. This process uses near field communication (NFC) technology and while it is a pretty nifty technology, it can also leave your phone vulnerable to hackers.
