If you’re a small business owner then the idea of a $250,000 grant has got to pique your interest, especially in today’s uncertain economic times. Chase and LivingSocial have joined forces on the Mission: Small Business project, which will award up to 12 grants of $250,000 to small businesses. However, the application deadline is June 30 so if you’re an interested small business owner then you need to act quickly.


Participation in the program begins when you register your small business on the Mission: Small Business website. The program does not accept nominations and so business owners need to register for the grant program directly. Once a business has registered for the site, accepted the program rules and completed the application, then the business needs to receive 250 votes to make it to the next stage.


This is where having a strong customer or fan base comes in handy. All eligible small businesses that receive a minimum of 250 votes will make it to the final round of the grant program. In this last stage, a panel of judges will review eligible applications and choose the small businesses that will receive a $250,000 grant. Grant recipients will be announced on or before September 15, 2012.


Chase and LivingSocial have already dedicated $1 million towards the grant pool with the possibility of this pool reaching $3 million. Consumers can log on to the Mission: Small Business website and pledge to “Support Small Business.” For each pledge, Chase will donate an additional $5 to the program.
