Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts continue in the Northeast thanks to millions of dollars in donations. Yesterday, the American Red Cross reported that it had already received more than $11 million in donations and those donations are just a portion of the tens of millions of dollars that will be funneled into Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts in the coming weeks. Over the past few days, several corporations have stepped in and pledged $1 million-plus donations.

The Walt Disney Company – Disney will be donating $2 million to Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts, including $1 million directly to the American Red Cross. Additionally, public service announcements encouraging the public to support rebuilding efforts will run on the Disney-ABC Television Group and ESPN radio and television network channels.

News Corp. – News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch announced the company’s $1 million donation to programs in New York and New Jersey via Twitter and encouraged other companies to follow suit.

Viacom – Viacom is donating $1 million to recovery efforts including $500,000 to the Mayor’s Fund for NYC. Viacom is also creating an employee relief program to assist Viacom employees directly affected by the superstorm.

Toyota – The automaker has pledged $1 million in funding to the American Red Cross and other nonprofit organizations. Additionally, Toyota will match employee contributions.

Lowe’s – Lowe’s is also in the $1 million donation club. In addition to the cash donation, Lowe’s will accept donations to the Red Cross at stores across the country.

Wells Fargo – Wells Fargo is donating $250,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and an additional $750,000 to other nonprofits supporting recovery, relief and rebuilding efforts in the region. Additionally, consumers can donate to the Red Cross at more than 12,000 Wells Fargo ATMs through November 13, 2012.
