If you’re a fan of Starbucks and fruit smoothies then the coffee giant’s newest venture is right up your alley – Evolution Fresh. The first Evolution Fresh store opened its doors today in Bellevue, Washington. Customers can choose from a variety of handcrafted smoothies, homemade juices, as well as hot and cold breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees.

The new Evolution Fresh store also features an interactive juice wall to help educate customers about the store as well as the benefits of the fruits they choose. For example, the brightly colored wall shares this message about bananas, “Bananas are loaded with potassium – a natural electrolyte.”

As a fan of smoothies this sounds like my kind of place, unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near Bellevue, Washington. The good news, at least for me, is that Starbucks will be bringing Evolution Fresh products into Starbucks retail chains over the coming months.

Products are made using a technology called high pressure processing (HPP). This process allows the bottled juice to keep more of the raw fruit and vegetable’s flavor, vitamins and nutrients than traditionally processed juice.

“Evolution Fresh sets a new standard in premium cold-crafted juice. We are making real juice that has more of the nutrients and flavors from the fruits and vegetables from which it comes from,” said Jeff Hansberry, president, Channel Development. “We have a tremendous opportunity to change people’s lives not only by making premium-quality, natural juices and foods more readily available, but also by offering an extensive variety of choices for customers to select the best options for their lifestyle.”
