With renewable-energy technologies on the rise and more green buildings going up, many electrical contractors are finding it necessary to keep up with the eco-times. Granted, the field of electricians who can install home solar panels, conduct an energy audit or give your home an energy-efficiency upgrade is still small, but it’s growing. The National Electrical Contractors Association has begun offering green training. Search here for a NECA-trained eco-electrician. Another list of energy-minded electrical contractors can be found at U.S. Green Building Council’s Home Guide. Before signing up, ask about eco-credentials and previous green jobs.
