I gotta admit I was quite bummed to miss this year’s Dwell on Design — LA is a long way from home — but pretty glad that Dwell was kind enough to profile one of the event’s exhibitors: Stéfanie Gélinas of the freshly launched online design boutique, Sleek Identity.
Santa Monica-based Gélinas started Sleek Identity to bring the work of small, distributor-less European designers stateside. Prior to Dwell’s chat with Gélinas, I was unfamiliar with Sleek Identity. And now I’m in love.
The tightly edited webstore’s offerings aren’t exactly expansive at this point there’s still plenty of goodies to choose from across a range of price points. I’ve included a few of my favorites below. And although they don't all exactly scream "green" you'll find that the use of sustainable materials, clever repurposing, and cheeky eco-themes play into the designs.
