Up, up, and away!

Also, it goes without saying: Don't try this one at home, kiddos. (I'm a touch surprised that like any good cyclist, Schlussler isn't wearing a helmet as he peddles his way way up into the forest canopy). And by the way, that big black mass of fur that can be seen prowling around on the forest floor in the video is a dog, not a bear, as Schlussler points out. But if it was a bear, I really can't image a better emergency exit that hopping on a treehouse bike elevator.

Look ma, no ladder!: A peddle-powered treehouse elevator [Video]
Ethan Schlussler of Sandpoint, Idaho demos his ingenious DIY bicycle elevator that enables to ascend nearly 30-feet to his treehouse using peddle power.
